Affiliate Disclosure

Effective date: 12 October 2026

Soft Margin is free to read and carries no advertising. It is paid for in one way only, and this page explains that way completely: what the arrangement is, where it appears in the course, what it buys, and what it does not.

The arrangement, in one paragraph

Drastavela Room s.r.o., the publisher of this site, has a referral arrangement with the affiliate network that operates the link to Crossout. If you follow one of our paid links, create an account and confirm your email address, the network pays us a commission for that registration. That is the whole of our revenue. Nobody pays us for a review, a rating or a position, because we publish none of those.

What it costs you: nothing

The commission is paid by the advertiser out of its own marketing budget. Your position is identical whether you arrive through our link, through a search engine or by typing the address: no price changes and no condition attaches. In this case the publisher describes the game and the account as free to play, so the question of price does not arise; the commission is paid for a registration and a confirmed email address.

Where the paid links appear

Step 1Under "The example title used in this course".
Step 3After the general registration sequence.
Step 5After the final checklist.

Anywhere elseNowhere. Steps 2 and 4, the checklists page, About, Contact and the other legal pages carry none.

Every one is marked the same way: a short line of plain text beside the link saying that it is paid and what we are paid for. None is hidden inside a paragraph or disguised as an ordinary reference. Links to Australian government bodies are never paid.

What the commission does not decide

It does not decide what the five steps say. The checklists were written before anything was written about any particular game, and they would be word for word the same if the arrangement ended this afternoon. No advertiser or network sees a page before it is published, and none has ever asked for a sentence to be changed.

It does not decide which products are mentioned either, in the sense that matters: the course does not compare, rank or recommend, so there is no ranking for money to influence. What the arrangement does decide, honestly stated, is which title is used as the single worked example — the one place where our interest and the content touch.

What does decide the content

  • The order a beginner meets the questions. The five steps follow that order, not an order chosen to bring a product forward.
  • What can be sourced. A claim is either attributed to the Australian body responsible for that subject, or to the publisher of the product concerned, or it is written as general guidance, or it is left out.
  • What the reader can act on. Every step ends in a checklist of things a person can actually do at a keyboard.
  • What we do not know. We do not test games, so we publish no scores, no benchmarks and no verdicts. Where a vendor does not state something, we say that instead of filling the gap.

The fuller account of the method, including which sources each step relies on and how often the course is reviewed, is on the About page.

What happens technically when you follow one

The link goes directly to the network's address, exactly as written, and you can see that address in your browser's status bar before you click. There is no redirect of ours in between, no script that rewrites the destination and no interstitial page. It opens in a new tab and carries the markings that tell search engines it is paid.

Once you are on their sites, their cookies and their policies apply, not ours. We receive commission reports and use them only to reconcile payments; we do not seek anything in them that would identify an individual reader. The Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy describe this from the data side.

Trade marks

All brand names on Soft Margin, Crossout among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Soft Margin, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.
